The UNIL Summer Research Program 2024 engages in research at the forefront of the unknown can be a transformative experience that stays with an individual throughout their life. The School of Biology at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) offers the Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Programme to provide international students with this first-hand research experience.
About UNIL Summer Research Program 2024:
Spanning 8 weeks in July and August, the SUR Programme welcomes approximately 15 Bachelor students with backgrounds in both biological and medical studies from across the globe. Each participant undertakes an individual research project within a different laboratory of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine. The program’s objective is to attract exceptionally motivated students for a research endeavor that will leave a lasting impact on their lives.
While the majority of their time is dedicated to their respective host labs, the international students gather weekly for collaborative academic engagements, often in conjunction with participants from the sister program at EPFL. These activities encompass student research presentations, lectures by faculty members on research themes and their career trajectories, as well as workshops offering guidance on careers in academia and beyond.
After the summer, students showcase their research findings through poster presentations at a joint UNIL/EPFL Symposium and submit a comprehensive final report. In addition to academic pursuits, students partake in various social activities, such as hiking in the Alps, enjoying barbecues, swimming in Lac Léman, and exploring other cities across Switzerland!
