Students who are entering their first year of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs are eligible to apply for Tongarewa Scholarship Program. Scholarship Value/ Inclusions for Victoria University of Wellington Scholarship:

Several scholarships are awarded each year. They cover part of the tuition fees for one year of study. You can apply if you’re starting your first year of undergraduate studies or if you’re beginning a postgraduate program. These scholarships are awarded based on how well you’ve done academically. If you’re selected, the scholarship will help pay for your tuition fees in the following year.

  • The scholarship is offered to undergraduates, Master’s Research, Master’s by coursework, All postgraduate, First-year students, and School leavers.
  • The scholarship will be offered for 1 year.
  • The value is $5,000 or $10,000.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be international students.
  • Students must pay fees.
  • Students must be entering in the first year of their undergraduate or postgraduate degree program.

You cannot apply for this scholarship if you:

  • Finished high school in New Zealand
  • Completed the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or Foundation Studies Programme
  • Study Abroad or Twinning student from one of our partner universities abroad
  • Are in your second year of the same degree program at Victoria University of Wellington.

  • Students must upload all the required documents and also upload references.
  • Application forms must be completed prior to the deadline.
  • You have to finish and send your online application by 4:30 pm on the last day. We won’t accept applications that are late or not finished. Also, upload all the documents required including references.

The application deadline to apply for the Tongarewa Scholarship Program is 1 May 2024 for (Trimester 2), 1 August 2024 (Trimester 3).
