Mitacs Globalink Research Internship

The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship 2024 is a Canadian initiative aimed at providing international students with education and empowerment through the teaching of Canadian research methods and techniques. This program offers a 12-week research experience to students from various disciplines, including science, engineering, mathematics, humanities, and social sciences, under the guidance of Canadian university professors or faculty members. As a fully-funded international internship, the program provides students with the opportunity to explore interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects, allowing them to search for projects within specific and general categories.

The fully funded internship program is available in nearly 70 universities across Canada. Many academic partners from around the world also participate in the research projects. These partners include organizations like Universities Australia, Brazil’s Araucaria Foundation, and Fulbright Canada, among others. The program allows interns to learn new ideas and techniques from these academic partners while completing their projects at Canadian universities.

Scholarship Value/ Inclusions for Mitacs Globalink Research Internship:

The interns will have the opportunity to conduct research with Canadian professors and universities.
They will receive a stipend for student enrollment fees, with a maximum of $300.
The program also covers the cost of round-trip airfare to Canada and provides transportation from the airport to their accommodation.
A stipend for housing will also be provided.
Health insurance will be covered, and interns will have free registration for industry events and professional development courses.
Upon completion of the program, interns will receive a Globalink Research Completion Certificate.

Eligibility Criteria for Mitacs Globalink Research Internship:

To apply, the candidate should be a full-time undergraduate or undergraduate/master’s student from a qualifying institution.
They should be from one of the eligible countries: Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
Additionally, the candidate should be at least 18 years old and have one or three semesters remaining as of Fall 2023.
Lastly, the candidate must be available for a 12-week internship in Canada.

How to Apply?

To apply for the Mitacs Globalink Research Internships, candidates must use the Global Student platform to submit their application online.
If the candidate’s program is not listed, they should try searching using multiple keywords in different disciplines, including both general and specific categories. If the university still does not appear, they can contact helpdesk@mitacs.ca for assistance.
Candidates must apply for a minimum of three and a maximum of seven projects in at least three Canadian provinces. There is no submit button, so candidates must carefully complete their application by the deadline.
The reference letter must be from the candidate’s current professor who is supervising them in their home country. Candidates should remember to save their application before leaving the application page.
The required documents for the Mitacs Globalink Research Internships include a CV, an official transcript in English or French, a personal statement, at least one reference letter, a valid passport, and research experience.
