Applications for the MEXT Scholarships 2024/2025 at Hokkaido University in Japan are open to students from around the world.

  • MEXT Scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees.
  • Monthly research regional allowance provided.
  • The monthly stipend varies each year based on the Japan Government Scholarships Budget:
    • Undergraduate students: ¥117,000/month (*¥120,000/month from Nov. to Mar.)
    • Research students: ¥143,000/month (*¥146,000/month from Nov. to Mar.)
    • Master’s students: ¥144,000/month (*¥147,000/month from Nov. to Mar.)
    • Doctorate students: ¥145,000/month (*¥148,000/month from Nov. to Mar.)
  • Round trip airfare tickets provided:
    • Airfare to Japan after selection
    • Airfare to home country after degree
  • Other support was provided after assessing the applicant’s needs.

  1. Integrated Science Program (ISP)
  2. Modern Japanese Studies Program (MJSP)

Eligibility Criteria for Hokkaido University Scholarships:

  • Have a GPA of 2.0/3.0 in the most recent two years of study in their home country.
  • Maintain good academic results in Japan throughout the scholarship program.

  1. Embassy Recommendation:

To apply to Hokkaido University, you must first contact the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your home country and obtain a recommendation from them. Embassy recommendation is necessary for the application.
