Italian Government Scholarship

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is offering scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year to foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad. Scholarship Value/ Inclusions for Italian Government Scholarship 2025:
- Total amount: 9,000 euros
- Payment method: Three separate installments to a personal current account at an Italian bank
First installment:
- Amount: 4,500 euros
- Condition: Paid upon arrival in Italy, verification of presence, and completion of university enrollment
Second installment:
- Amount: 2,500 euros
- Condition: Paid upon confirmation of enrollment and attendance from February 2025
Third installment:
- Amount: 2,000 euros
- Condition: Paid upon verification of satisfactory academic progress with a certificate of exams or equivalent university certification
- Disbursement timing: End of each university semester

Tuition Fees:
- Some universities may waive enrollment and tuition fees for scholarship recipients, depending on their policies.

Eligibility Criteria:
1- Academic Qualifications
- Only foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad with the necessary academic qualifications to enroll in an Italian University/Institute can apply.
2- Age Requirements
- Master’s Degree:
- Must be at least 18 years old and not older than 28 by the application deadline (born after June 14th, 1995), except for renewals.
- PhD Programs:
- Must be at least 18 years old and not older than 30 by the application deadline (born after June 14th, 1993), except for renewals.
- Research Projects under Academic Supervision:
- Must be at least 18 years old and not older than 40 by the application deadline (born after June 14th, 1983).
3- Language Proficiency
Italian-Taught Courses
- Applicants must provide certification of their Italian language proficiency at a minimum B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- Those previously enrolled in Italian-taught courses or Italian language courses at a university can submit a language certification from the course coordinator.
English-Taught Courses
- Applicants must provide certification of their English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level according to the CEFR.
- English Proficiency Certificate will be accepted for candidates from countries where English is an official language.
- Applicants with an English-taught Bachelor’s degree can submit documentation verifying that their program was conducted entirely in English.
- No Italian language proficiency proof is required for courses taught entirely in English.
4- Italian Language and Culture Advanced Courses
- Applicants must provide certification of their Italian language proficiency at a minimum A2 level according to the CEFR.
- Those previously enrolled in Italian language or Italian-taught courses at a university or Italian Cultural Institute can submit a language certification from the course coordinator.
5- PhD Programs and Research Projects Under Academic Supervision
- No language proficiency proof is required for PhD programs and research projects under academic supervision.
