MIT Summer Research Program (MSRP) 2026 in the USA
MIT designed the MSRP to support students from diverse backgrounds, offering them equal opportunities to grow, innovate, and succeed. The goal is to encourage participation in graduate education while promoting diversity and inclusion in research fields.
The program lasts nine weeks (June 8 – August 8, 2026), during which students conduct research under the mentorship of MIT experts. More than just an academic experience, it’s a transformative journey that builds confidence, broadens perspectives, and strengthens career goals.
Each year, MIT selects outstanding undergraduates from across the U.S. to join the program. Students can choose research areas such as engineering, computer science, physics, political science, or urban planning. Participants also get the opportunity to publish their work, attend professional development sessions, and present their findings at a final poster symposium.
