About University of Hong Kong HKU CDS Internship 2025
In the summer of 2025, the HKU School of Computing and Data Science will introduce a Research Internship Programme, welcoming approximately 50 exceptional undergraduate students in Computer Science and Statistics and Actuarial Science from Mainland China and other overseas regions. International students will receive a stipend for the duration of the internship.
The programme is designed to provide interns with firsthand experience in research and insight into our research postgraduate programmes. The internship is tentatively scheduled from July 13 to August 31, 2025, with flexibility for adjustments in consultation with the supervisor. Each intern will be assigned to a research project under the guidance of a faculty member and will be required to present their project findings at the end of the internship.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Students should be in their second or third year of undergraduate studies.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Statistics and Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- Enrolled in a university in Mainland China, Hong Kong, or other countries.
How to Apply for University of Hong Kong Internship 2025?
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact potential supervisors at HKU CDS to discuss possible research projects before applying. Applications for internship should be submitted online through the official application portal. The selection process is competitive, and successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance in May 2025.
Visa Information:
Selected interns must obtain a “training visa” from the Hong Kong Immigration Department. A supporting letter from the applicant’s home institution is necessary, confirming the institution’s endorsement of the training at HKU and the student’s return to their studies upon completion. Applicants should ensure their institution can provide this letter before applying. Tourist visas are not acceptable for participation in this program.
