RIH Japan Summer Internship
RIKEN is working towards a future where AI, robots, and humans live and work together. The R-IH internship program for international students focuses on developing next-generation robots for real-world use by combining psychology, brain science, cognitive science, and AI research.
This research internship in Japan is open to students worldwide and has two options:
- Type A starts from July 24 to September 19, 2025
- Type B starts from August 21 to September 19, 2025
Traditional robots can only follow specific commands given by humans. However, the Guardian Robot Project (GRP) aims to create robots that understand their surroundings, recognize people, and interact in a way that supports humans while respecting their independence.
The internship research theme for undergraduate and graduate students is “A robot that expresses emotions and coexists with humans for a long time.”
