CICOPS Scholarships in Italy 2026

Interested in studying in Italy? The University of Pavia and EDISU, offers the CICOPS Scholarships Program 2026 to international students. This fully funded opportunity allows researchers to carry out their work at the University of Pavia for a period of 4 to 12 weeks. A research proposal is required by applicants. If the proposal aligns with current research at the university, it will be passed on to the relevant academic department. Selected scholars will work with university professors on their research during their stay.

The University of Pavia in Italy offers international scholarships in many academic fields, including Chemistry, Physics, Civil Engineering and Architecture, Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Drug Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Biology and Biotechnology, Brain and Behavioral Sciences, Internal Medicine, Molecular Medicine, Public Health, Neuroscience, Forensic Medicine, Clinical and Pediatric Sciences, Law, Economics, Cultural Heritage, Political and Social Sciences, and Humanities.

As part of this fully funded scholarship for international researchers, the host department will provide access to resources such as libraries, computer labs, and other research facilities to support study and research activities.

The scholarship covers travel costs.
Participants will receive meals and free accommodation.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ experience in teaching or in roles within international organizations or institutions.
The scholarship is available to both early-career and experienced university staff from developing countries who have an interest in development studies.
Those currently enrolled in a PhD or postgraduate program at an Italian university cannot apply.
Selected applicants must confirm their acceptance of the scholarship within 20 days of receiving the selection email.

How to Apply?

First, get an invitation letter from a faculty member at the University of Pavia, then complete the online application form.
If you can’t get an invitation, contact CICOPS. You will be provided with a research proposal form to complete and return to cicops@unipv.it.
The CICOPS team will review your proposal. If it matches current research at the university, they will share it with the appropriate department and help connect you with them.
