Scholarship Value/ Inclusion for Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship:

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Gilman Scholarship, applicants must adhere to the following conditions:
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Should be an undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States, which includes both 2-year and 4-year institutions.
- Must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant either at the time of application or provide documented proof of eligibility for a Pell Grant during the term of their intended study abroad program or internship.
- Must be in the process of applying to, or already accepted into, a credit-bearing study abroad or internship program. Proof of program acceptance is a prerequisite for award disbursement.
- Must be applying for credit-bearing study abroad programs located in a country or area with an overall Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2, as indicated by the U.S. Department of State’s Travel Advisory System. However, it is important to note that specific locations within these countries or areas may have more restrictive travel advisories, such as “Do not travel to” (Level 4) or “Reconsider travel to” (Level 3). Students are not permitted to travel to these specific high-risk locations. Additionally, applicants are not eligible to apply for programs in countries or areas with an overall Travel Advisory Level 3 or 4.

You can go study or work in another country in the spring, summer, fall, winter, or for the whole school year.
For the October 2023 Deadline, you can apply from mid-August 2023 if your program or job abroad starts between December 1, 2023, and October 31, 2024. This includes programs in the winter of 2024, spring of 2024, Maymester of 2024, summer of 2024, fall of 2024, and the entire school year from 2024 to 2025. The last day to apply is October 5, 2023, at 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
For the March 2024 Deadline, you can apply from mid-January 2024 if your program or job abroad starts between May 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025. This includes programs in Maymester 2024, summer of 2024, fall of 2024, the school year from 2024 to 2025, and spring of 2025. The last day to apply is March 7, 2024, at 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
