Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship:

The Swiss Government is offering International students around the whole world Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships to pursue their higher studies in Switzerland. Each year, the Swiss Confederation offers Government Excellence Scholarships to encourage international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 countries. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) selects the recipients.

These scholarships are intended for young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD, as well as for foreign artists who hold a bachelor’s degree.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship:

Swiss Scholarship is offered in two forms described below:

  • Research Scholarship:

The research scholarship including research fellowships, PhD, and Postdoc opportunities is available to post-graduate researchers from any discipline, with a minimum qualification of a master’s degree. These scholarships support those planning to come to Switzerland for research or further studies at the doctoral or post-doctoral level.

Scholarships are awarded for research or study at all Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences, the two federal institutes of technology, and the four research institutes. Only candidates who are nominated by an academic supervisor at one of these higher education institutions will be considered.

  • Art Scholarship Program:

The Art Scholarship program is specially designed for Arts Degree Program students. Art Scholarship is offered to International students wanting to pursue a Master’s Degree in Arts. Many universities in Switzerland offer Masters in Arts. Students can apply to these universities.

Eligibility Criteria for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship:

For the Swiss Government Scholarship, Applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate must obtain a letter of acceptance from Swiss University before applying.
  • If a student wants to pursue education in Ph.D. and higher studies, the student must have completed their master’s Degree Program.
  • If a student wants to pursue education in Master’s and higher studies, the student must have completed their Bachelor’s Degree Program.
  • Students who already stayed in Switzerland are not applicable to apply.
  • Students who already received a Swiss Scholarship are not applicable to apply again for a scholarship application.

How to Apply:

  • In order to apply for a Swiss scholarship application, students must apply to a Swiss university offering their interested degree program, and for a scholarship application students must apply separately to the Federal Commission of Scholarships for Foreign Students.
  • Applicants must get an acceptance letter from a Swiss University Professor before applying.
  • The research Proposal and Study plan must be written in the English Language.
  • The Swiss Embassy provides you with the application package.
