METI Government of Japan Internship 2025

The METI Government of Japan Internship 2025 is a fully funded opportunity for international students to gain hands-on experience and training in Japanese companies. This internship is offered by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), providing undergraduate and graduate students from OECD/DAC countries to do internship in Japan. For METI internship, no IELTS is required, and there is no application fee. In 2025, METI will select 100 interns to be placed in various host companies across Japan for a six-week internship. Selected candidates will be matched with companies that align with their skills and interests. This is considered one of the top internship opportunities available in Japan.

This project offers international students interested in working with Japanese companies the opportunity to experience and understand Japan’s professional work environment through participation in an internship program. This year, METI Government of Japan Internship will further support long-term employment and settlement by providing job-matching assistance after the internship, along with Japanese language training for participants.

Scholarship Value/ Inclusions for METI Government of Japan Internship

Training for Interns:

Interns will receive different types of training, such as:
- Cross-cultural training
- Safety and crisis training
- Business Japanese language training
- Mid-program check-in training

Insurance:

Interns are covered by:
- Internship performance insurance
- Liability insurance

For Online Internships:

Access to necessary tools like a computer, internet, and ways to communicate.
Daily allowance: About 1,000 yen per day (paid in local currency) based on the number of working days.

For In-Person Internships (1st and 2nd terms):

Eligibility Criteria

You must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries.
You should have good English communication skills.
You must be between 18 and 40 years old as of August 25, 2025.
Must be currently enrolled in, or have graduated from, a college or university.
You must be able to provide proof of enrollment or graduation, along with a letter of recommendation.
You must be able to fully participate in and commit to the entire internship schedule.
